PE PPA Cover

  • Working with and alongside the PE coordinator and senior leadership team (SLT): our coaches collaborate with the PE coordinator and SLT to curate a full year of lesson plans.
  • Designing plans: we provide curriculum maps and long-term/mid-term plans that have targets suitable for each phase, with detailed progression.

Curriculum

In line with the new Ofsted framework, we are committed to ensuring that pupils benefit from a rich and varied PE curriculum and that we help enhance pupils’ level of knowledge and understanding. We work diligently to ensure:

  • All school stakeholders are aware of the purpose of the PE curriculum;
  • We facilitate the staff implementation of the PE curriculum
  • That all stakeholders are informed enough to articulate the school’s vision for PE when asked about why and how PE is being delivered in their setting.

Teaching and Learning and Assessment

We regularly conduct formal assessments for all pupils. Reports are shared with class teachers and senior leaders, supporting a feedback model, for parents/carers and stakeholders.

Team teaching:

When delivering PE and sports lessons, we encourage all staff to shadow our coaches since this is a valuable experience which has a proven, positive impact on pupil outcomes. Our coaches also deliver demonstration lessons and phase INSET training days to showcase new teaching methods, designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills required to deliver more effective PE sessions.

At TGI, our sessions are based on the structured principles of fun, inclusion and learning, with the intention of preparing children for the next phase of their school journey. We deliver fun, safe and progressive lessons across the school age range.

Equality of access:

We believe that all pupils, regardless of their circumstances or abilities, should be able to participate in and enjoy sports. Our extensive subject-specific knowledge, commitment and dynamic delivery create a positive impact on our pupils’ physical and mental wellbeing, giving students the confidence to participate consistently. Pupils are encouraged to lead and motivate others, which results in accelerated progress and development of new skills. We also offer 1:1 coaching sessions, targeted intervention groups and additional lessons for children identified as requiring more attention.

We aim to tailor our service based on your setting, delivering services in a wide range of sports such as:

  • Invasion games
  • Net/Wall games
  • Striking and fielding
  • Gymnastics
  • Dance
  • Leadership and orienteering
