CPD training

CPD for Teaching and Impact

At Team Get Involved, our passion for Sports and Physical Education is a key part of our organisation. Through our Continuing Professional Development framework we empower Primary School teachers with the skills and tools needed to deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons. To increase confidence and boost performance, translating through to a more successful school and higher achieving students.

Never before has there been such an emphasis on CPD for teachers in schools, as a vital part of Physical Education improving the impact on student development. Our programme delivers training for early years and primary-school level teaching, from nursery to year 6.

Tailored support

As PE theory develops, the subject gains greater significance as does the need for schools to cultivate their staff competence, to teach PE at a high standard. We have developed a programme through which teaching staff can collaboratively design lesson plans with qualified PE teaching coaches. Creating a tailored framework for individual classes. Expanding existing skills and providing the tools necessary to keep children motivated and encourage active lifestyles. We support teachers in various ways:

  • Activity-specific knowledge (e.g. gymnastic, games, dance, athletics)
  • PE knowledge testing
  • Effective use of assessment tools for learning in PE
  • Setup and utilisation of specialist equipment
  • Assurance of the best PE and school sport experience, for pupils and staff members alike

Collaborative methods

Unlike the typical two-hour CPD course broadly aimed at all pupils in a school, Team Get Involved adopts a different approach, whereby we recognise that high-quality PE lessons include continuous learning, coaching and teaching. We build a rapport with each teacher and class, as we assist with planning and delivery of PE lessons specific to the needs of each year group.

School staff members are matched with sports coaches, covering each area of the programme throughout the duration of their training. TGI coaches assess and review lessons regularly to provide feedback, identifying areas where continued professional development is required. We facilitate a long-term, consultative approach to the development of versatility and confidence in teaching.

Education for teachers

We work with primary school teachers targeting specific areas of their Physical Education background. NQTs or established teachers who do not feel confident in their PE lessons successfully engaging or motivating students. Addressing questions such as:

  1. Are you frustrated about the limited experience you have in teaching a PE Lesson?
  2. Do you feel anxious about planning, teaching, or assessing a PE lesson?
  3. Are you having problems teaching outstanding PE Curriculum deliverables?

Choosing Team Get Involved will help you gain the confidence and skills to inspire children through sports and physical education. We help teaching staff perform effectively, using sport and exercise to positively impact the next generation of young people.
