Safeguarding children: policy and procedures

Team Get Involved acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members. Staff will always act in the interests of the child in accordance with our child protection policy if they have a concern.

TGI has a clear anti-bullying policy – bullying is strictly not accepted at Team Get Involved. Our team works diligently with all pupils, families and relevant stakeholders to ensure that bullying in all forms (including via social media platforms) is eradicated and that our pupils learn how to be kind in their words and actions.

Medical information

Any medical conditions that any participant may have must be fully disclosed (1) in writing during registration and (2) to the lead coach during the session.

Liability

Team Get Involved has public liability insurance.

Advice on photos and videos

We will, from time to time, click photographs or film any Team Get Involved sports session. The use of these images is solely to promote the Team Get Involved brand. We are aware of the potential risks of inappropriate copying of images for the purpose of abuse on websites on the internet.

It is best practice for all parents to inform our coaches if they do not wish to have their child photographed or filmed before the session starts or in writing when possible. However, where possible, Team Get Involved will inform parents/guardians if sessions are recorded. Team Get Involved will hold all personal data in accordance with its privacy policy.

Equality policy

TGI is an inclusive provider that focuses on the wellbeing and progress of every child and where all members of our community are considered of equal worth. In accordance with the Equality Act, we are committed to valuing diversity, tackling discrimination, promoting equality and fostering good relationships between people.

We recognise that these duties reflect international human rights standards as expressed in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, and the Human Rights Act 1998.

Complaints

In the unlikely event that your child may be dissatisfied with our service, we will act promptly, in accordance with our policies and procedures, to address and resolve any issues and will communicate appropriately with all the relevant parties.

If the problem is not resolved to your satisfaction, then please email info@teamgetinvolved.co.uk and we will reply within 7–10 working days.

Health and safety

Before all sessions commence, we will carry out a full risk assessment of the venue in use. Team Get Involved staff hold a valid first-aid certificate issued by an appropriate body. We stress that all participants who attend our sessions must wear appropriate clothing and footwear. For safety reasons, all attendees must wear the necessary protective equipment when taking part in foundation sports classes, e.g. football, hockey or any other contact sport. If these requirements are not met, Team Get Involved staff have the right to refuse permission to participants. It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate clothing is worn and/or available for their child for the class being undertaken, as well as taking weather conditions into account. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you are providing consent for trained staff to carry out first aid if your child requires it.
